Karim Benzema has been invited to be present at the 2022 World Cup final, as MARCA reported on Thursday.

Didier Deschamps gave a cold response in the press room after the victory against Morocco when he was asked if Karim had a chance to return either to be in the stands or to play if he was recovered. “Next question,” he simply replied.

The pieces fit a little better based on the news given by RTL, which claims that it is an idea that comes from French president Emmanuel Macron himself, who was already at the semi-final yesterday and who announced his presence in the final against Argentina this Sunday at the Lusail stadium.

Macron’s idea is not only to take Benzema, but also to take the group of injured players who have been in Qatar or who missed out due to injury, such as Paul Pogba or N’Golo Kante.

France’s sports minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera, is the one who confirmed it on RTL. “I know that he is keen to do it and that it is being studied. We will see if it is possible.”

Benzema is no longer injured

The thing is that Benzema’s case is not very similar to the rest. For starters, he is not injured as seen this morning in Madrid, where the striker played a friendly against Leganes.

As MARCA reported this week, the striker, who was injured on November 19, was ruled out by Deschamps when the coach considered that he would not be back in time.

However, the striker’s recovery has shown that the deadlines set by the FFF were not in line with the extent of the injury and the proof was that friendly against Leganes.

Benzema’s presence in Qatar is therefore up in the air, His idea was not to attend, although we will have to see the power of persuasion of the French president. If he was able to convince Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG, then why not this?

Whether or not Benzema comes to Qatar, the Real Madrid striker will be, on paper, a world champion because he was not replaced by anyone.
