NEW DELHI: Telecom equipmentZTE Friday said it assisted China Mobile’s Zheijang branch to send China’s first 5G message based on GSMA UP2.4 standard in Hangzhou, China. This makes China Mobile the first mobile operator to implement the 5G message center (5GMC).
Furthermore, China Mobile expects to launch its commercial 5G messages by the end of June, 2020.
China Mobile’s Zheijang branch is the first pilot unit of its 5G messages and its 5GMC has been developed by ZTE, which employs full cloud-based network function virtualization (NFV) architecture.
ZTE added that the first 5G message has brought to light the interconnection between the 5G message system and Chatbot/existing network equipment, implementing point-to-point transmission of rich media messages, including pictures, videos, locations, and files.
ZTE said the communication between the terminal and the new-generation Chatbot uses the MAAP platform which ensures accelerated commercial use of 5G messages and enhances service experience of terminal users.
In addition to compatibility with 2G/3G/4G messages. The 5GMC system provides enhanced 5G messaging services such as enhanced messages and business messages. The 5GMC system introduces upgrades to short media messages and introduces rich media messages, card messages and Chatbot applications.
ZTE has been working closely with China Mobile to guide and promote the establishment of international 5G messaging standards.
The gear maker previously assisted China Mobile to complete the GSMA UP certification for the first time in the world, and organized the 5G message interworking test for the three major Chinese operators.
